Microgrant Program Terms and Conditions

By submitting an application to the Wuu-rri Microgrant Program, applicants acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. About the program

The Wuu-rri Microgrant Program provides small grants to support Indigenous youth entrepreneurs and organisations delivering initiatives that strengthen Indigenous entrepreneurship, business capability and community-led economic participation.

Grants are administered by Wuu-rri, a social enterprise established by the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce.

2. Eligibility

Applications are open to:

  • Indigenous individuals

  • Indigenous-controlled organisations, including businesses, not-for-profit organisations and Indigenous Chambers of Commerce

  • Non-Indigenous organisations where the proposed initiative directly supports Indigenous youth and aligns with the purpose of the program

For the purposes of the program, youth generally refers to individuals aged 16–30 years, noting some flexibility may apply depending on circumstances.

Applicants must ensure that the information provided in their application is true and accurate.

3. Grant amounts

Applicants may apply for up to $5,000 per initiative.

Wuu-rri aims to award approximately one to three microgrants per quarter, subject to:

  • available funding

  • the number and quality of applications received.

Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

4. Eligible use of funds

Microgrants may be used to support costs directly related to the approved initiative, including for example:

  • equipment

  • materials

  • marketing and promotion

  • training or workshop delivery

  • facilitator or program costs

Microgrants cannot be used for routine operational expenses, such as wages, unless specifically approved.

Funds must be used only for the purpose described in the approved application.

5. Assessment process

Applications are assessed through a merit-based process against the following criteria:

  • Initiative Alignment & Purpose

  • Impact & Community Benefit

  • Feasibility & Planning

  • Innovation & Creativity

Applications are reviewed by an assessment panel appointed by Wuu-rri.

Wuu-rri reserves the right to:

  • approve an application in full or in part

  • defer an application for consideration in a future funding round

  • decline an application.

Eligible but unsuccessful applications may be retained for reconsideration if additional funding becomes available.

6. Conflict of interest

Applicants must disclose any actual, perceived or potential conflict of interest that may arise in relation to their application.

A conflict of interest may include personal, family or business relationships with Wuu-rri, the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, or individuals involved in assessing applications.

Disclosure of a conflict does not automatically affect eligibility but helps ensure the program is administered fairly.

7. Funding agreement

Successful applicants must enter into a Funding Agreement with Wuu-rri before any funds are released.

The Funding Agreement will outline:

  • approved use of funds

  • reporting requirements

  • acknowledgement obligations

  • repayment provisions where funding conditions are not met.

8. Reporting requirements

Grant recipients are required to provide a short outcome report upon completion of the funded initiative.

This report may include:

  • a summary of activities undertaken

  • how funds were used

  • outcomes achieved

  • photos and/or videos demonstrating the initiative where appropriate.

The outcome report must be submitted within 30 days of completing the funded initiative, or within another timeframe agreed with Wuu-rri.

Photographs or video evidence help demonstrate the impact of the program and may be used by Wuu-rri to share success stories (with permission).

Where required reporting or supporting evidence is not provided within the agreed timeframe, Wuu-rri reserves the right to request repayment of grant funds or limit eligibility for future funding opportunities.

9. Acknowledgement of support

Successful recipients may be required to acknowledge Wuu-rri as the funding supporter of the initiative using wording such as:

‘This initiative is supported by 'Wuu-rri’s Microgrant Program'.

Use of Wuu-rri logos or branding requires prior approval.

10. Changes to the initiative

If a funded initiative changes significantly, recipients must notify Wuu-rri and seek approval before altering how funds are used.

11. Repayment of funds

Wuu-rri reserves the right to request repayment of grant funds where:

  • the initiative does not proceed

  • funds are not used for the approved purpose

  • reporting requirements are not met

  • false or misleading information was provided.
